The presentation posits that there is a mismatch between the high importance given to Corridors Management Institutions (CMIs) and the lack of support for ensuring the sustainability of their operations. In fact, most CMIs with permanent secretariats in Africa face the critical challenge of financial sustainability in the long run.

It provides an overview of the challenges resulting from non-automated freight markets - such as high transport costs, unreliable delivery times, reduced trading potential, non-competitive exports and unprofitable transport businesses - and makes the case for leveraging technology to create an e-freight market that would ehnace trade effiency.

This presentation provides an overview of SSATP's Fourth Development Plan (DP4) concept note. The proposed thematic areas for the new DP4 include: Regional Connectivity and Economic Integration (RCEI), Sustainable Urban Mobility and Accessibility (SUMA), Road Safety (RS), and Resilient Road Asset Management (RRAM). Under the new plan, there will also be a larger focus on cross-cutting themes, including human capital development, gender in transport, digital solutions and low-carbon options.
