SSATP cancels planned meetings amid COVID-19 outbreak
The Africa Transport Policy Program’s top priority is the health and well-being of all our member country stakeholders, donors, partners, staff and global communities.
Due to the increasing threat of COVID-19, in adherence with the public health recommendations issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank’s current operating guidelines, previously scheduled SSATP meetings and workshops are cancelled until further notice.
We are living through an unprecedented crisis as the novel coronavirus pandemic spreads to every corner of the world. While it was an extraordinarily difficult decision to suspend upcoming SSATP meetings and events, as the world struggles to deal with and contain the virus, we must all do our part.
During these difficult times, global supply chains and the crucial role transport plays in providing access to basic needs are being put to the test. As the situation surrounding COVID‑19 continues to evolve, now more than ever, we remain committed to SSATP’s mission of building safe, inclusive, and sustainable transport systems to ensure that all Africans have access to the essential goods and services needed.
Let me assure you that we are focused on delivering on our common mission and are working hard towards this end. In the meantime, we remain positive, practicing social distancing while attending to SSATP’s work program from home-based work stations, and are at your disposal should you have any questions or concerns.
Amidst all the turmoil, let us all remember that while we cannot meet physically, we can still remain virtually connected with our friends, families and colleagues.
Sincerely yours,
Ibou Diouf
SSATP Program Manager
