Transport Coordination Committee of the Regional Economic Communities (REC-TCC) Meeting
Integration, connectivity and cohesion was identified as one of the focus areas of the SSATP during its third development plan (DP3 2014-2018). The objectives of the SSATP in this area are to: (i) promote effective policy and strategy formulation and implementation for corridor development at country and regional levels; (ii) develop capacity among institutions (RECs, countries, corridors, industry associations, etc.) for inclusive policy dialogue on regional integration; and (iii) promote efficient logistics services. The results framework of the DP3 was the subject of several consultation workshops and is attached to this note.
The Transport Coordination Committee of the Regional Economic Communities (REC-TCC) working group met in Nairobi, Kenya on October 27, 2014 to:
- Agree with stakeholders on the institutional role and responsibilities of the REC-TCC;
- Discuss options for the management of One-Stop Border Posts based on lessons learned
- Define the SSATP work program during the first year of the DP3 to achieve the two objectives of the program in the area of integration, connectivity and cohesion
