RMI Matrix - Country Policy Reform Status
The idea underlying the matrix is to ensure the availability of basic comparative information on the implementation of key policy reforms in road management being carried out in member countries. This information has been put together from a number of sources and verified by the RMI Country Coordinators. It is intended to be updated on a regular basis to ensure its relevance to decision makers and stakeholders in reforming countries as well as to provide accessible information to external partners. It is expected that from time to time short pieces of analytical work based on the matrix and what it describes in terms of reform progress will be published through this channel. In keeping with the new partnership with the Rural Travel and Transport Program (RTTP) component since the July 2002 Maputo SSATP Annual Meeting, the matrix includes those reforming countries which are RTTP members but which may not have formally joined the RMI. Similarly, a number of countries implementing the same principles but not members of RMI or RTTP are also included. Contact: Ismail Guennouni
Country Coordinator Contact List In order to facilitate communication with those who know at first hand the conditions under which reforms are being implemented at country level - the RMI Country Coordinators - we are providing on this website a detailed contact list which also contains the RTTP coordinators as well as our principal interlocutors in the non-member reforming countries. We will also ensure that the Country Pages, a new feature for which some examples are starting to appear, are linked to the list so that browsing the Country Pages will throw up the names of the key contacts for further information. Meetings The RMI and RTTP Coordinators will be meeting - by invitation only - April 3-4 in Nairobi, Kenya (for the Anglophone countries) and April 10-11 in Dakar, Senegal (for the Francophone countries) under the broad theme of "From Maputo to Kigali - and beyond". The two related objectives of these meetings are: to further build the RMI-RTTP partnership on the basis of decisions reached in Maputo, and to prepare in joint efforts the next SSATP Annual Meeting in Kigali and more precisely the 2004 Work Plan. The Coordinators will be looking closely at the implications for their own work programs and the way in which they are currently organized in the light of the emerging recommendations for SSATP contained in the Long Term Development Plan 2004-2007, to be adopted in final form at the conclusion of the Kigali Annual Meeting.
