The presentation entitled 'Advancing Africa Green Freight Transport Agenda' was made at SSATP's 2019 Annual Meeting in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe as an introductory message to kickstart the conversation. The presentation begins by acknowledging that at the continental and global levels, there is consensus on the need for environmental friendly transport, as evidenced by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate related targets. There is a unified vision that achieving sustainable mobility entails four policy goals: (i) universal access - connecting all people, including women and communities to economic and social opportunities; (ii) efficiency - optimizing transport's predictability, reliability and cost-effectiveness; (iii) safety - drastically reducing fatalities, injuries and crashes; and (iv) green mobility - abating the environmental footprint of mobility. However, Africa has made no significant progress on this agenda.
