REC-TCC Meeting in Abidjan hosted by ACMA
The Regional Economic Communities Transport Coordination Committee (REC-TCC) facilitated by SSATP is the premier forum providing the Africa regional integration and trade facilitation community the opportunity to review progress on their respective programs, exchange experience and coordinate their activities.
Last year in Nairobi, the REC-TCC articulated a priority work program under SSATP's newly launched Third Development Plan (DP3), covering notably the following activities:
- Support to the development of Tripartite Roads Standards
- Support to Tripartite Corridor Management Institutions
- Port Performance Indicators
- Guidelines on Container Terminal Concession
- One stop border posts (OSBPs)
- Support to the West Africa Monetary Zone countries
With the SSATP Annual General Assembly (AGM) taking place in February 2017, this was the right time to review progress on the work program, decide on follow-up activities, and explore opportunities to broaden the scope of the work program. This was the primary objective of the present REC-TCC meeting.
In line with the decision to jointly organize REC-TCC meetings with a partner organization, the November meeting was hosted by the African Corridor Management Alliance (ACMA), which held its inaugural meeting immediately before the REC-TCC Meeting on November 21, 2016.
The African Development Bank hosted PIDA Week at the same time; the agenda of the REC-TCC meeting was organized so as to enable participants to attend relevant sessions of PIDA Week.
