Progress on Commercialized Road Management in Sub-Saharan Africa
On September 5, 2013, SSATP hosted a Brown-Bag Lunch (BBL) session on “Progress on Commercialized Road Management in Sub-Saharan Africa” at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, DC.
During the BBL, Mike Pinard presented a review of the progress on road management reforms in Sub-Saharan Africa based on the findings from SSATP's Working Paper No. 92 entitled ‘Progress on Commercialized Road Management in Sub-Saharan Africa.’ The paper recommends, and promotes the application of, a framework for assessing road sector reforms and road management practices, and shares lessons learned.
The event served as an opportunity for World Bank Managers and Task Team Leaders to discuss options for improving road management practices through their road projects and operations, thereby contributing to the institutional sustainability of the road sector in their African client countries.
