WEBINAR: Monitoring Road Safety Performance in Africa
February 6, 2025 | Washington DC, 9-10am | Abidjan, 2-3pm | Paris, 3-4pm
Africa's road safety data collection and management is inconsistent, lacking in quality and not aligned with global benchmarks. This fragmentation impedes the monitoring of progress and the identification of evidence-based interventions. To address this challenge, the SSATP developed the Road Safety Performance Monitoring Framework (RSPMF), designed to help African countries improve their road safety data collection, monitoring, and accountability. It provides a structured approach for tracking and improving road safety outcomes, supporting evidence-based interventions aligned with the Safe System approach. This enables the measurement of progress toward established targets. Ultimately, the RSPMF aims to guide countries in evaluating their road safety strategies, ensuring alignment with international practices, and improving their overall performance.
This webinar is designed to broadly share the RSPMF and incentivize its use among representatives from the African Road Safety Lead Agencies (RSLAs), including road safety professionals, data analysts, policymakers, and other stakeholders involved in road safety management and monitoring. During the session, SSATP will present the newly developed tool and gather feedback on its potential use, ensuring it meets the specific needs and challenges of African RSLAs. This interactive session offers a valuable opportunity for participants to learn about and adopt a tool that will support effective road safety management across the continent.
